NAMPA, Idaho (AP) — A retrial has been set for a former Canyon County prosecutor accused of misusing funds after a jury deadlocked on a verdict last week. The Idaho Statesman reports Special Prosecutor Bill Thompson requested a new trial for John Bujak. Thompson suggested March "to give things a chance to cool off" and so he can address his duties as Latah County prosecutor. Third District Senior Judge G.D. Carey set the trial for March 11. Prosecutors say Bujak mishandled money from a contract to prosecute misdemeanors in Nampa. Bujak says that any money extra money after paying county staff belongs to him and he believes his prosecution is politically motivated.
