Nutty though it may have sounded at first, horror master Robert Rodriguez's decision to reboot the iconic 'From Dusk Till Dawn' franchise as a TV series on the El Rey network has paid off in blood. After only three episodes, the network officially ordered a second season of the vampire lore thriller, keeping the Gecko brothers cool for another year to come.

Now renewed for an additional 13 episodes to debut in 2015, El Rey’s 'From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series' centers around bank robber Seth Gecko (D.J. Corona) and his violent, unpredictable brother, Richard “Richie” Gecko (Zane Holtz), who are wanted by the FBI and Texas Rangers Earl McGraw and Freddie Gonzalez after a bank heist leaves several people dead. While on the run to Mexico, Seth and Richie encounter former pastor Jacob Fuller (Robert Patrick) and his family, whom they take hostage.

Using the family RV to cross the border, chaos ensues when the group detours to a strip club that is populated by vampires. They are forced to fight until dawn in order to get out alive. The impressive cast also includes the likes of Jesse Garcia, Eiza Gonzalez, Wilmer Valderrama, Adrianne Palicki, Jake Busey, Don Johnson, Madison Davenport, Lane Garrison and Brandon Soo Hoo.

Said Rodriguez of the renewal:

This is a truly unique property and one that has really resonated for viewers. It has been a joy to bring these characters back to life and have the opportunity to take our storytelling to a whole new place. We look forward to going back into production later this year and are excited about raising the bar even higher in season 2.
