Garbage Truck and Car Smash Into Each Other in West Idaho

According to a press release by Idaho State Police: On May 18, 2016, at 2:20 pm, ISP investigated an injury crash at the intersection of Purple Sage Road and Emmett Road, northwest of Middleton, in Canyon County.

Jeremy Dionne, 40, of Ontario, Oregon, was driving a 2004 Autocar garbage truck northbound on Emmett Road near the intersection of Purple Sage Road. Betty Walker, 86, of Caldwell, was driving a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica southbound on Emmett Road when she crossed into the northbound lane of traffic.

Dionne tried to avoid a crash by crossing into the southbound lane, but struck Walker's vehicle on the passenger side. Dionne was transported to West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell.

Walker was transported to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Dionne was not wearing a seatbelt; Walker was wearing a seatbelt and the airbag in her vehicle did deploy.
