Gooding, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - Ed Simons has been named by the Gooding School Board of Trustees to be the interim superintendent.

Simons took over on Wednesday. He is replacing Mary Larson who resigned on February 10. Simons is not new to the education scene. He filled in as principal for the Gooding High School who resigned in 2014. He has also worked as superintendent of the Dietrich School District, and has been a coach in the area as well.

Lisa Sabala-Anthony the Gooding school board clerk said that she does not have any details for Simons pay schedule. She is hoping to have that finalized in a day or two. At this time there is no time frame when a new superintendent will be named.

The decision by the board to hire Simons was unanimous. The board announced the appointment at a special board meeting they called Tuesday night.
