BOISE (KTVB) -- Fire crews have doused a burning field that caught fire after goose hit a power line that caused a transformer to blow in a Boise neighborhood this morning.

The fire ignited around 11:32 a.m. at 5061 West Blaser Lane near the intersection of Orchard and Cassia streets. Flames spread to a house in the area, but have been extinguished, according to Boise Fire. There was only minor damage to the home.

Dispatchers say a transformer blew and power lines went down before the fire started. Idaho Power says 1,930 customers were without power in the area.

Idaho spokeswoman Lynette Standley says crews were able to quickly restore power to most of the affected homes. As of 12:20 p.m., about 190 homes were still without electricity. She says it could be another two to three hours before the repairs are made and the power is back on.

The goose that hit the power line has died.
