BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The budget chief for Gov. C.L. "Butch" Otter will be stepping down at the end of the month with plans to return to the private sector. Wayne Hammon is resigning on Sept. 28 to become executive director for the Idaho Associated General Contractors. The Spokesman-Review reports Hammon has served as administrator of the Division of Financial Management for more than five years, a stint longer than any of his predecessors. Hammon notified Otter of his plans in a letter dated Sept. 16 and said it's simply "time to move on." At IAGC, Hammon takes over for Mark Dunham, who resigned in June. Hammon will be the top lobbyist for the group, which has more than 600 members and a leading voice for the state's construction industry.
