Looking to have a child in a safe place?  Then, leave Idaho and travel to one of the northern coasts.  WalletHub has compiled a list of best and worst states to have a baby.  Much of New England, Oregon and Washington State are in the top 10.  Idaho places a fair #20.

You can see the list here.  These coastal states at the top of the list would appear to have more doctors and likely more hospitals.

I’ve got a theory percolating on why some states did so poorly in the survey.  Many are rural and it’s a long drive to see a doctor, although.  I may be out on a limb, but in many of the states near the bottom I’ll wager there is a methamphetamine epidemic.  Babies may be born to meth addicts, and then the addicted parents may not have the resources to see medical professionals.
