RUPERT, Idaho (AP) — A 21-year-old Heyburn man charged with killing one man and shooting at another before fleeing to Texas has made an initial appearance in District Court. Glen Christopher Cruz was arraigned Tuesday on charges of first-degree murder in the Aug. 2 death of 36-year-old Craig Glen Short and attempted first-degree murder. Cruz appeared in 5th District Magistrate Court via video from the Cassia County jail. Short was found dead at Cruz’s house. Cruz was arrested in Edinburg, Texas on Sept. 24, and returned to Idaho last week. Minidoka County Sheriff Eric Snarr says officers haven’t determined a motive for the shooting.
