UPDATE – Hiker rescued after falling into Snake River Canyon
Authorities in Twin Falls say a hiker was rescued yesterday who fell more than 100 feet into the Snake River Canyon near the Perrine Bridge. Police say 19-year-old Marcus Toothman from Buhl was hiking down into the canyon with his girlfriend on the southeast side of the Bridge when he fell about 150 feet. The girlfriend, 26 year old Jasmica Doddroe, then hiked down to where he was and called 911 for help. That was around 11:30 a.m. It took several hours to get the victim out of the canyon. Rescuers tried to climb out of the canyon with him on a backboard, but decided the terrain was too rough. They then took him to the canyon floor where he was airlifted out of canyon by helicopter around 2 p.m. Police say Toothman was then taken to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center with what are described as life-threatening injuries. He was later flown to a Boise hospital. He was listed in critical condition last night.
