Just the other week Showtime's 'Homeland' released a massive new list of guest stars for the upcoming third season, as well as a few indications of what characters would become series regulars. Now, long before 'Homeland' season 3's September 29 debut, 'Prison Break' star and Tony winner Tracy Letts has made the leap from recurring to series regular!

Well, that was fast. Shortly into production of 'Homeland's third season, Deadline reveals that announced guest star Tracy Letts has already been bumped up to a series regular for the new run of episodes set to begin September 29 alongside Showtime's new drama 'Masters of Sex.' Letts will play Senator Andrew Lockhart, a powerful and commanding Committee Chairman tasked with asking questions while the government investigation into the terror attack that crippled U.S. intelligence prompts a global manhunt for Nicholas Brody.

Along with the recent additions of Joanna Merlin, Nazanin Boniadi, Amy Morton, Lawrence Clayton, Sam Underwood, Gary Wilmes and Pedro Pascal, season 3 of ‘Homeland’ will see David Marciano (Virgil) and Diego Klattenhoff (Mike) stepping down as series regulars to take reduced roles, while Morena Baccarin will reprise her series regular role as Jessica Brody, in spite of her wrongly accused husband’s absence.

‘Homeland’ season 3 picks up during the aftermath of the horrific terror attack that decimated the US intelligence apparatus, and prompted a global manhunt for the world’s most wanted terrorist — Nick Brody. As Carrie and Saul begin to pick up the pieces of their shattered professional and personal lives, they are swept up in the political and media firestorm surrounding the terror attack and the subsequent search for Brody’s whereabouts.

Well, what say you? Are you excited to see what a reworked 'Homeland' looks like when the series picks up for season 3 in late September?
