While the Farhampton stories of 'How I Met Your Mother' season 9 have proven largely a bore, next week's "Bedtime Stories" should liven things up with an episode entirely performed in rhyme. The first sneak peek of the concept episode has arrived, along with new details of the forthcoming spinoff, 'How I Met Your Dad'!

First things first, the "Bedtime Stories" sneak peek wisely unfolds in flashback, as with the strongest episode of the season to date, "Platonish." In it, Ted finds himself with yet another dating prospect as a new professor to the university seeks his advice, but given that we know how this one will pan out, will Marshall's rhyme scheme liven things up?

Says CBS of Monday's "Bedtime Stories":

MARSHALL TRIES TO GET MARVIN TO SLEEP BY RECITING RHYMING BEDTIME STORIES, ON THE FINAL SEASON OF "HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER," MONDAY, NOV. 25

James Van Der Beek Returns as Robin’s Ex-Boyfriend, Simon

"Bedtime Stories" — Marshall tries to get Marvin to sleep by reciting three rhyming bedtime tales about his friends as they wind down their epic cross-country journey, on the final season of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, Monday, Nov. 25.

Meanwhile, the 200th episode celebration brought with it new details of the proposed 'How I Met Your Dad' spinoff, which series co-creator Craig Thomas tells Zap2It, "It's not going to be introduced [in the series finale]. 'How I Met Your Mother' will have its own concise, neat ending, and this will be a whole new show with all new characters. It's not the Cristin Milioti show, it doesn't back up and tell her story -- it's brand new."

Well, what say you? Are you relieved to hear 'How I Met Your Dad' won't have an immediate connection to the main series, should CBS pick up the pilot? Check out sneak peeks of Monday's "Bedtime Stories" above and below, and give us your 'HIMYM' wishlist in the comments!
