Hundreds of people attended a memorial service for former U.S. Senator James McClure over the weekend. McClure passed away over a week ago from complications from a series of strokes.  Four hundred people gathered at the Cathedral of the Rockies for the service, including Governor Butch Otter and First Lady Lori Otter. Also in attendance were three former Idaho governors, Senators Risch and Crapo, Congressman Labrador, the lieutenant governor, secretary of state and many other current and former legislators.  One former staffer spoke of his many accomplishments during his political career -- saying he was ahead of his time in relations with the Middle East, energy initiatives, and public land management. The University of Idaho's jazz band also gave a special performance at the service.
