Idaho Avalanche Warning!

If you plan to head off the beaten path to explore Idaho's mountains, choose your route carefully and be aware of the avalanche danger.  The Payette Avalanche Center lists the hazard as considerable today for the backcountry around McCall and Cascade.  The Sawtooth Avalanche Center is advising considerable avalanche danger for middle and upper elevations in the Sawtooth Mountains, the Wood River Valley and the Salmon River headwaters.  These advisories are for the backcountry outside of operating ski areas or highways where crews routinely work to control avalanches.
