Idaho Falls School Replacing Water Fountains Due to Lead

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — An elementary school in eastern Idaho is removing two of its drinking fountains after the Department of Environmental Quality found traces of lead in the water.

KIDK-TV reports that School District 93 Safety Director John Pymm says tests at Ucon Elementary in Idaho Falls found no other problems and that it was the make and model of the drinking fountain that caused the lead traces to leach into the water.

Pymm says a different fountain at the school tested positive for lead three years ago, but it was not removed at the time.

During last week's testing, that fountain showed no traces of lead but a fountain that is the same make and model did. Both fountains have been removed.
