PAYETTE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho man who escaped the Payette County Jail by scaling a razor-wire fence and spent more than a year on the run before being arrested in Mexico has been sentenced to five years in jail.

KTVB-TV reports that 29-year-old Nicholas Grove was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to felony escape. A second escape charge and a weapons charge were dropped as part of a plea deal. Authorities say surveillance video showed Grove climbing over the fence and dashing away from the jail on Aug. 26, 2014.

Authorities had been monitoring Grove's activity on social media, which included Facebook posts of selfies and various shots around Cancun, Mexico. He was arrested by U.S. marshals in November 2015 and extradited back to Idaho.
