CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — A historic Carnegie Library in southwestern Idaho is being renovated to house four veterans' organizations.

The Idaho Statesman reports that the Caldwell Veterans' Counsel is refurbishing the building to house the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Disabled American Veterans and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Work started in September and plans call for creating office space, a commercial kitchen, and a large space that can be rented out for public events.

The Carnegie Library in Caldwell was built in 1914 and is one of 11 libraries built in Idaho between 1903 and 1914 with money from the Carnegie Corporation. It operated as a library until 1976.
