MERIDIAN, Idaho (KTVB)- A Boise man is facing felony charges after Meridian police say a 19-month-old boy was abused, and suffered a life-threatening head injury. We want to warn you that the details in this story are very disturbing. Samuel David Ford, 21, was booked into the Ada County Jail early Wednesday morning. Meridian police say he is responsible for causing the toddler's injuries. Meridian Police Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea says the little boy remains in a coma in the hospital.

Police say the child was left in Ford's care while his mother was at work on Tuesday. Ford is the boyfriend of the child's mother, but is not the baby's father, Basterrechea said. The boy's grandmother called paramedics after finding out the symptoms of his head injury.

Ford has been charged with four counts of felony injury to a child. Investigators say he has admitted to physically abusing the boy several times. Ford appeared in Ada County court Wednesday afternoon.
