BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A southwestern Idaho man who pleaded guilty to killing his wife by causing a car to fall on her while she changed the oil has been sentenced to 50 years in prison. District Judge Molley Huskey sentenced 38-year-old Rodney Wayne Bibbey to 50 years in prison Friday.

He pleaded guilty in October to second-degree murder in the April 2012 death of 35-year-old Trina Bibbey of Marsing. He must serve at least 10 years before being eligible for parole. Prosecutors said Bibbey intentionally let the car fall on his wife.

He told police the car jack had slipped, but a person with expertise in hydraulic floor jacks determined the jack holding up the car was working properly. Bibbey was indicted for first-degree murder in March 2013.
