COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — A northern Idaho man who stole timber from the Panhandle National Forest has been sentenced to three years of probation. The Coeur d'Alene Press reports that Senior U.S. District Judge Robert H. Whaley also ordered 51-year-old Norman Leroy Bogart of Kingston to pay $1,700 in restitution. Bogart pleaded guilty June 24 to one felony count of willful injury or depredation of property of the United States. An investigation by authorities found Bogart cut down 40 trees. A deer camera captured Bogart's vehicle traveling to the cut location. Last fall, forest service agents searched his property and seized more than 58 cords of firewood.
