Idaho Man Makes Plea in Hit and Run Case

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A southwestern Idaho man has pleaded guilty to felony hit and run for an accident that badly injured a 24-year-old pedestrian in Garden City.

The Idaho Statesman  reports John Taylor French entered the guilty plea in 4th District Court on Wednesday, telling Judge Patrick Owen that he got scared and made a bad decision. Prosecutors said the 20-year-old French ran a red light on Aug. 24 and hit Alan Beavers, who was crossing the street.

French then fled the scene, replacing the damaged hood and headlight on his Toyota 4Runner. Beaver remains in a coma. French is scheduled to be sentenced in Dec. 13.
