Idaho Man Makes Plea in Vehicular Manslaughter Case

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A southwest Idaho man whose rollover crash killed a 21-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to felony vehicular manslaughter.

Thirty-six-year-old Jacob Canoy of Melba also pleaded guilty in 4th District Court on Tuesday to felony injury to a child.

A state toxicology report says Canoy had methamphetamine and alcohol in his system at the time of the crash that occurred at about 10:30 a.m. on March 26.

Authorities say Sara D. Bronson died after becoming pinned under the 1999 Chevy Blazer. The crash took place in an area meant for dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles.

Police say neither of Canoy's two young sons were wearing seatbelts and were ejected, one of them sustaining serious injuries.

Canoy is scheduled to be sentenced April 10. He faces up 14 years in prison.
