BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A 42-year-old southwest Idaho man who threatened five Iraqi students has been sentenced to 10 years of supervised probation.

KBOI-TV reports in a story on Friday that Brian Olson of Boise received the sentence in 4th District Court after pleading guilty to two counts of malicious harassment.

Olson on Oct. 4 approached the students near an overlook by Lucky Peak and began yelling cultural epithets at the group.

Olson told authorities he broke a necklace off one of the teens, threatened to throw another off a cliff, and spit on one of the other teens.

Fourth District Judge Samuel Hoagland questioned Hoagland's apology, wondering whether Olson was just sorry for getting caught.
