Idaho Man Shot by Bounty Hunters Placed Into Custody
CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — Caldwell police say they have arrested the man who was shot and wounded by two bounty hunters after allegedly pointing a gun at them.
Police placed 26-year-old Marco A. Mejia into custody on Friday after he was released from a local hospital for a gunshot wound to the head. Mejia is scheduled to be arraigned Monday on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
According to law enforcement officials, two bail bond agents attempted to take 25-year-old Chelsea M. Johnson into custody Friday when a scuffle broke out. Both bond agents shot their weapons after Mejia pulled a loaded gun out of his vehicle. Idaho law permits bond agents to carry firearms.
