HAYDEN, Idaho (AP) — A northern Idaho man who police say tried to steal a $20 million corporate jet to fly it across the country to visit his ailing father in Massachusetts has been charged with attempted grand theft and three counts of burglary. The Coeur d'Alene Press reports that court documents say Clyde C. Stemberg took a flight lesson on Sept. 21 and then hid in the hangar. Police say the next morning he was going through the flight checklist for the Challenger 600 before takeoff when he was confronted by a mechanic at the Coeur d'Alene Airport. Stemberg was booked into the Kootenai County jail, and was released after posting $50,000 bond. Officials say the aircraft wasn't damaged.
