Idaho Parade Float Knocks Down Power Line, Spectators Ok

EAGLE, Idaho (AP) — People watching an annual "wet and wild" parade in southwestern Idaho had to leap to safety after a parade float knocked a live power line to the ground over the weekend. The Eagle parade features water fights between spectators and the floats.

CoDee Martin was watching the parade with his 5-year-old daughter Saturday when he saw a flagpole on a float snag a power line. Martin said he grabbed his daughter and threw her about 10 feet to safety and jumped out of the way himself just before the live wire hit the ground.

Eagle Fire Department Division Chief Nevil Humphreys says it's surprising no one was hurt because the pavement was covered with water. Emergency crews cordoned off the area until power crews arrived and cut the electricity.
