Idaho Prisoner Resisting Move to Utah on Murder Charges

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho inmate is trying to block his transfer to Utah on charges of raping and beating to death an 11-year-old Ogden girl in 1983. Gregory Seamons says a 2011 DNA test that identified him as a suspect in the slaying of Rebecca Lemberger is faulty. He told a judge in an arraignment Tuesday at the Idaho Maximum Security Institution the DNA sample taken at the Valley County Jail was done in dirty conditions.

The Idaho Statesman reports  Seamons wants to bring the test to the attention of Gov. Butch Otter. Failing, he says he will file a legal challenge to his extradition. Seamons was 15 when Lemberger was killed. The girl was last seen walking to school a day before her body was found in a shed.
