EAGLE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho has renewed its sponsorship of the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl college football game for $450,000 annually.

The Capital Press reports in a story on Tuesday that the Idaho Potato Commission, a state agency, agreed to a five-year extension.

The commission has sponsored the game since 2011.

Commission President Frank Muir says a recent study by an independent group found the media value of the sponsorship at $13 million annually.

Muir says that 2 million viewers watch the game that he says is essentially a four-hour infomercial about Idaho potatoes.

The commission says the football conferences represented in the bowl game include four of the five largest potato-consuming states in the country.

In this year's game held on Dec. 22, Wyoming defeated Central Michigan 37 to 14.
