(AP) Idaho Republican senators chose Russ Fulcher in a closed session as majority caucus chairman to replace former Sen. John McGee, who quit last week amid sexual harassment allegations from a young female staffer. The 27 Senate GOP members chose Fulcher, R-Meridian, on Wednesday, hoping to put what's become a painful issue for the chamber's majority behind them as quickly as possible. Fulcher actually held the No. 4 Senate post until last year, but lost it when he unsuccessfully campaigned for the Senate president pro tem post. McGee's downfall began last June, when he was arrested on drunken driving and car theft charges. Though he survived a GOP confidence vote earlier this year, McGee was given the choice last week after the latest allegations surfaced: Resign or face a Senate ethics panel.
