TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX)- Hunts for Sandhill crane will open up the first of August in Idaho. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game announced tags are now available for purchase online or at any license vendors in the state. IDFG says the number of tags for Sandhill were increased to 465, plus some areas of the state will see an extended season.

A small area in Jefferson County was closed. There is a daily limit of two birds for all hunts and a limit of two birds for each hunter for the season. IDFG says in a news release that this years waterfowl will be much like last years.

Waterfowl seasons will be similar to last year, except seasons in northern and eastern Idaho will begin two weeks earlier than last year to allow hunting opportunities prior to wetlands freezing. Overall, hunters will enjoy a 105 day season for ducks and Canada geese with a 2-day youth hunt scheduled statewide on September 24 and 25, 2016.
