Idaho Solar Farm might Not Be Built
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An energy developer planning what was to be Idaho's first utility-scale solar panel farm has missed a key deadline to deliver electricity — deepening uncertainty over whether the project will ever be built. The Grandview PV Solar One in Elmore County was supposed to be generating electricity by Jan. 12. The deadline came and went, and now Idaho Power Co. says it's reached a confidential settlement agreement with Corona Capital Partners, the company behind the project.
The utility has submitted the agreement to Idaho utility regulators for approval. Mark Scher, Corona's owner in New York, declined to comment on whether he still plans to complete the project. Scher already faces a federal lawsuit from a construction company that says it wasn't paid; the next court date is Feb. 26.
