BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho's Republican state superintendent candidate Sherri Ybarra says she's not worried about her campaign despite facing recent criticism that her public absences could cause her to lose the seat.

Earlier this week, Ybarra declined to speak at a conference where school administrators from all over Idaho were meeting in Boise. Instead, her Democratic opponent, Jana Jones, attended the event and secured a key endorsement from a Republican superintendent from one of the state's larger school districts.

The absence was noted as another concern that Ybarra's political profile won't be enough come November to win the seat despite being a Republican in a GOP-dominated state. However, Ybarra says her support is growing and added that she has endorsements from 10 out of Idaho's 85 Republican lawmakers.
