In 2011, 167 people died in Idaho traffic accidents which is 42 fewer than in 2010.  And 2010 was 58 fewer than in 2009.  Idaho State Police attribute the decrease to the fact that Idaho drivers are making better decisions.  And there are more police patrolling the roadways thanks to various grants.  The state police now have a team that concentrates on drunk and impaired driving which is another major reason traffic deaths are decreasing.  Some law enforcement agencies say fewer traffic tickets were issued during 2011 but that drunken driving had increase a little.
