Idaho Veterans Can get Memory Checked Remotely and Free

JACKSON, Wyo. (AP) — Veterans from Wyoming and Idaho soon will be able to get their memory checked remotely by St. John's Institute for Cognitive Health. The Jackson clinic plans to purchase an $8,000 telemedicine system and virtually connect to veterans affairs clinics in Aspen, Colo., and Pocatello and Idaho Falls, Idaho.

The technology will enable staff in Jackson to analyze and diagnosis veterans' memory problems, all for no charge to the patient. Dr. Martha Stearn is founding director of the Jackson institute.

Stearn tells the Jackson Hole News & Guide that the clinic can reach more people without inconveniencing them, especially in the winter. Patients come from as far as Gillette and Cheyenne, because Jackson is the closest such clinic in the region.
