BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The unemployment rate among Idaho's veterans is now the third-lowest in the country, after dropping almost 5 percentage points over the last year.

New numbers from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show that 2.3 percent of the Gem State's veterans are unemployed — down from more than 7 percent in 2013. Roughly 1,000 of the 58,000 military veterans in the state are without work.

Only North Dakota and Vermont have lower unemployment rates. This compares with a 3.9 percent unemployment rate among all Idahoans in February, its lowest mark in more than seven years.
