BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Police in Boise have arrested a 49-year-old woman after officers say she refused several requests to return a lost dog to its owner. Kelly R. Featherston was arrested Monday evening on suspicion of grand theft.

Police say the dog's owner called to report that someone else found her lost dog, but was unable to hold it. The person who found the dog gave the owner Featherston's contact information so she could retrieve the dog. When the owner arrived, Featherston reportedly told her the dog was no longer there.

The woman called police. Officers repeatedly asked if she had the dog inside. Police say after much negotiation, Featherston allowed an officer into her house, where the officer found the dog. The dog is a toy breed valued at about $700.
