Idaho’s Great Pumpkin Weighs-In

Linus is trying to convince Sally to come to Idaho for Halloween.

A Gem State man believes he has obliterated the state record for largest pumpkin by well more than 300 pounds.  He estimates the pumpkin he grew in Nampa weighs in at 16-hundred pounds.

While certainly large it won’t be even close to the national record.  A Rhode Island man raised a pumpkin last year and it weighed more than one ton!

A generation ago you would’ve been hard-pressed to find a pumpkin beyond 500 pounds.  Genetic engineering and selective breeding have been a difference maker when it comes to competitive growing.
