BOISE, Idaho (KLIX) Idaho's unemployment rate edge up in July while coming out on top of the nation in job growth.

According to the Idaho Department of Labor the July unemployment rate went up to 3.8%. Labor officials say strong job growth, demand for workers and more people looking for work pushed up the unemployment rate.

Idaho is back on the top in the nation for over-the-year job growth last month with close to 23,000 more jobs with a 3.4 percent jump driven by gains in all industries in the state. Total employment grew by 1,000 to 781,020. Unemployed Idahoans grew by 500 in July.
