BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Department of Correction is investigating the apparent suicide of an inmate at the men's medium-security prison near Boise. Department officials say 49-year-old Daniel Lee Peterson was found hanging in his cell just before 11 p.m. Saturday. Peterson was pronounced dead at the scene. Correction officials said Sunday they've asked the Ada County Sheriff's Office to assist in the investigation. Peterson was serving a life sentence. His record includes convictions for second-degree murder, grand theft and robbery in Canyon and Ada counties. He would have been eligible for parole in 2037.
