Is the Flag Lowered Too Often?

Some days, I’m driving home and see a flag flying at half-staff and wonder if I missed something.

Flags are lowered for deaths of prominent public servants and in some cases tragedies.  The history of lowering the flag was codified by former President Dwight D. Eisenhower.  This morning, I was joined by Lt. Colonel Steve Hyle (AF-Ret.).  He believes the lowering of the flag is being itself lowered by expansion of Eisenhower’s original guidelines.  You can hear our conversation below.
