(KLIX)- On November 25 1935, Idaho state Trooper Fontaine Cooper was shot and killed in the line of duty. Today, Trooper Fontainewas remembered by the Idaho State Police as they dedicated the District Four Office in Jerome to him. Trooper Cooper and a Twin Falls Sheriff’s Deputy Henry Givins had pulled over near Buhl, Douglas  F. Van Vlack wanted for a kidnapping in Washington State. The fugitive pulled out a pistol and shot the trooper killing him instantly. The sheriff’s deputy was shot several times and died a few weeks later. The State Trooper was the first to be killed in the line of duty.
