TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – The Idaho Transportation Department has scheduled two workshops that will help participants learn the basics of doing business with the government.

The two half-day workshops are scheduled from 8:30-12:30 at the following dates and locations:

  • Jan. 11 – College of Southern Idaho, Applied Technology and Innovation Center, Room 134. Register here.
  • Jan. 12 – College of Southern Idaho Outreach Center, Room 401, 1050 Fox Acres Road, Hailey. Register here.

“The workshops will provide participants with an overview on bidding with the Idaho Transportation Department,” reads information from the ITD, “requirements for bidding as a federal contractor, and available resources and services, such as free bid-matching and help responding to Requests for Proposals from the Idaho Procurement Technical Assistance Center."

The program will feature a number of presenters from ITD, U.S. Small Business Administration, Mountain Home Air Force Base, and other agencies.

Participants will learn how to find government projects out for bid, required licenses and registrations, and the differences between state and federal contracting.

Other topics to be covered include: the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program; 8(a) Business Development, HUBZone, Women-Owned Small Business and other business certifications; and where to go for free assistance.
