JEROME, Idaho (KLIX) – The Idaho Transportation Department has scheduled an open house this Thursday for the public to review and comment on the preliminary design improvements of a portion of U.S. Highway 93.

The open house is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Jerome City Council Chambers, 100 East Ave. A. Reps from ITD and the design team will answer questions and gather input. The design affects U.S. 93 near the 200 South Road intersection.

The preliminary design follows concepts outlined in the 2008 Environmental Assessment for U.S. 93 between Interstate 84 and Idaho 25. Specific improvements for this project include expanding the roadway to include two northbound and two southbound lanes, according to information from the department, and widened shoulders from a half-mile south of 100 South Road north to near Butte Road, or mile marker 59.5.

The project design also will include widening and intersection improvements at Idaho 25 and 100 South. For more information, contact ITD Project Manager Mike Scott at mike.scott@itd.idaho.gov or 886-7806.
