HAZELTON, Idaho (KLIX) – The public will have the chance to review and comment on the proposed reconstruction of about 14 miles of Interstate 84 in Jerome County at an open house next Wednesday.

The Idaho Transportation Department will host the open house from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Aug. 24 at Valley High School, 822 Valley Road near Hazelton.

The reconstruction project, which will be built in phases, includes rehabilitating the interstate from the Idaho 50/Hansen Interchange to the Idaho 25/Ridgeway Road Interchange, or mile posts 181.27 to 194.16, respectively.

According to ITD, the proposal includes the temporary closure of the entrance and exit ramps at the Valley Road Interchange (Exit 188) and the Ridgeway Road Interchange (Exit 194). The temporary closures will take place during separate phases for reconfiguration and reconstruction of the ramps.

Information from ITD says the road project “will restore roadway smoothness and improve safety for this segment of I-84.”
