ITD to Conduct Traffic Study in Bellevue

HAILEY, Idaho (KLIX) – Several intersections will be studied over the next few months in Bellevue.

The traffic study, conducted by the Idaho Department of Transportation, will involve city intersections that connect with Highway 75. According to the Idaho Mountain Express, they include Cottonwood, Kirtley, Pine and Spruce streets that Bellevue Elementary students regularly cross when going to and from school.

“We want to make our city safer for people walking and driving,” Mayor Chris Koch told the newspaper, “and since our Main Street is also a state highway, this is a necessary step to do so.”

He said drivers often are delayed getting onto Main Street during peak traffic times.

ITD will study pedestrian and motor vehicle traffic during busy drive times in the mornings and afternoons to see if additional signals with flashing pedestrian signs are needed, the newspaper reported.

No date has yet been marked for the study, but if improvements are needed the state will study funding options.
