Jamie Foxx and Syfy Producing Horror Anthology Miniseries
With ‘Django Unchained‘ largely in the rear view mirror, and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘ currently shooting, Jamie Foxx has pulled a fast one on fans today by announcing his commitment to a new TV project. The Academy Award-winning star will write, direct, produce, and potentially even star in a new horror anthology miniseries for Syfy, but what about the mysterious project could attract such a big Hollywood name?
Syfy’s upfront presentation brought with it a wealth of news today, from ‘Being Human‘s season 4 renewal to a number of pilot pickups, but biggest of all was the announcement that ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2′ star Jamie Foxx would helm an upcoming horror miniseries for the channel, making its debut during Syfy’s annual “31 Days Of Halloween” marathon this October.
Written, directed and produced by Foxx, the untitled series draws inspiration from ‘Tales From The Crypt’ and ‘The Twilight Zone,’ telling creepy morality tales with themes of envy, jealousy and superficiality. “This is a project that I’ve wanted to do for a long time and I’m so happy to see it come to life,” said Foxx in a statement. “Get ready to lose it when some special friends and I bring the scares this October, and who knows… maybe I’ll make a guest appearance or two along the way!”
‘Flight of the Conchords’ Troy Miller will executive produce the miniseries with production company Dakota Pictures, along with Foxx, writer Jeff Stilson, Jaime King and Julie Yorn. Thus far, additional writers on the project include Mike Ferris (‘Terminator: Salvation’) and John Pogue (‘Army Wives’).
