JEROME, Id ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) The Jerome Cemetery requires money for maintenance, money that the county doesn't have.

That is why the County Commissioners have proposed a cemetery district to collect tax revenue for its upkeep. A public hearing was held Monday evening to get an understanding of how the public feels about raising taxes. The general consensus is that the public supports the idea, however citizens of Eden are concerned about being included in the district.

"The cemetery beautification, maybe more security, not only for the maintenance shop, but for the cemetery itself. Maybe a gated fence, something that can be shut down at night to keep the vandals out.” Said Cemetery Board Chair Walt Appell. To compromise with the Eden residents the commissioners agreed to have the eastern border run along the 900 East Road. The proposed district will be on the county ballot in November.
