JEROME, Idaho (KLIX)- The City of Jerome now has judicial confirmation to move forward with plans to upgrade it's waste water treatment facility.

In an announcement on Tuesday the city said they received word from District Judge John Butler that it would be constitutional to seek bonds to pay for the upgrades without voter approval.

Jerome voters rejected a plan to approve funding earlier this year. Jerome will no issue bonds to secure $35.8 million for the project. The city said it will proceed with the predesign phase and then move to the design phase to fix it's watsewater facility's deficiencies and add redundancy as required by the Environmental Protection Agency. The city said rates will not go up for residents because it was already raised in October.
