A Jerome city police officer remains in the hospital after being shot by a suspect tonight. The incident started as a high speed chase. Authorities say multiple gunshots were fired during the chase. Three Jerome Police Department officers and a Jerome County Sheriff’s deputy participated in the ordeal. No word yet on how the incident started but police say it ended when the suspect, who was also shot during the incident, rolled his vehicle. the officer was sent to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise by air ambulance with serious but non life threatening injuries. The suspect meanwhile was taken to saint lukes magic valley regional hospital. Jerome county Sheriff Doug Mcfall says investigators are trying to piece together what exactly happened.  Authorities say the suspect, described as a younger male from the Jerome area is known to law enforcement. Three roads remain closed to to the investigation: 300 South between 200 and 300 East,  400 South between 200 and 300 East and 200 East is between 300 and 400 South are expected to remain closed for most of the night.
