Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) Jerome County is getting closer to having a new criminal justice center. The Jerome County Commissioners along with the Sheriff's Office are still working out logistics for the new facility.

Officials met Wednesday to discuss IT and network connectivity for the new building, which sits a few miles from downtown. Some of the items brought up were how to connect the building to the other counties in the area. Whether it is fiber optics or broadband IT will need to determine the best options for the county. The main focus of the facility will be the expansion of the jail and housing inmates.

Chief Deputy Jack Johnson "It's a huge cost savings in the long run, because of the amount of inmates we are still housing out of county to other counties and initially we will have extra bed space so we'll rent to counties, so we'll bring in some revenue to help pay for this,”

The jail is expected to be finished around March of next year and will house 132 inmates.
