JEROME, Idaho (KLIX) – Jerome police officers are searching for a suspect in an attempted robbery that happened a little before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the police department, the suspect is believed to be 29-year-old Andrew Michael Brooks, who is described as “a slim white male,” 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing about 195 pounds, with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, dark sweatshirt or jacket and blue jeans.

Police received a call at 12:21 p.m. from the owner of Express Pawn, 101 Main St., saying a man fitting Brooks’s description entered the shop and said he wanted to pick up a pawned item. When the owner was distracted, the suspect grabbed a box of jewelry. The owner confronted the suspect and a brief struggle ensued, after which the suspect dropped the jewelry box and fled the shop.

Police are investigating the possibility that Brooks also attempted robbery at Carnitas Y Birria Cheverria Restaurant on Monday evening, but at this point in time they are not certain if the two crimes are connected.

If you have information about Brooks’s whereabouts, call the Jerome Police Department at 324-4328 or 324-1911.
